Taking it easy this weekend - by the Bow River

Bowness Park

This weekend we went to Bowness park to play some mini golf. Shan wanted to prove that Anne was not the reigning champion. Well he did. lol

First time we have been to bowness park, which is out in the suburbs. The place was very busy with lots of families having BBQs and enjoying the awesome weather. We also found out that this is where a lot of people start to go rafting down the Bow River.

Lion King

We had the cheap seats - smack bang in the back row - but in the middle ! We saw the Lion King in theatre which had made its way to Calgary. Awesome show.

Shannon recommends seeing it in the back row rather than near the front (where he saw it in London), because he was distracted by the people playing animals, but from further away it wasn't so much of a distraction.

Calaway Park

We ventured off to Calaway Park, which is just outside of Calgary and is Western Canada's biggest outside amusement park (inside would have to be the west edmonton mall). Memorable parts of the day include:

- Anne winning mini golf by 6 strokes
- Trout fishing - where you pay $4 for a stick and bread crumbs to attach to the stick and you go fishing for trouts in a pond. We actually saw someone catch a fish. Apparently you get to take them home!

- Fairy floss

Oh Canada

We went for our second time - so convenient as it is just downtown. Bison steak for Shan and quesidilla for Annie!

Taste of Calgary

Taste of Calgary is a festival at Eau Claire, where you buy vouchers and try different samples from different restaurants. The person we bought the vouchers, accidentally gave us extra vouchers - yay for us! Shannon tried a bison burger. yum!

CFL - Calgary Stampeders & Winnepeg Bombers

Saturday night we went off to see our first CFL game. We got the cheap seats and were a long way up the back with no back rest. So Shannon was upset already! The game was long - 3.5 hours long - with not much play. We won in the end, and I don't think Shan and I will go see another game. Not enough action for us!

Fiore!

We have been here before, but we had to have the pasta, because we didn't have it before. We rolled ourselves down 4th street afterwards...

Walking around Calgary

You can see the Calgary tower in the last photo!

Joeys Only

Joey's Only is a seafood house and it has soooooo much food. We were so full for the rest of the night. We are little piggies.

Shannon's car got broken into....

Apparently there has been numerous break in, inside our apartment buildings and Shannon's car was one of the targets :( Nothing at all was stolen... although the box in the back seat (which most likely they were trying to get to) was full of biscuits and they didn't even take them!

But not to dispair... we got another hire car. We got a chevrolet colbalt... something different for Shan to drive. Much better quality... it has cruise control... so Shan was happy.

Vulcan

On the way from Pincher Creek to Calgary, we stopped at Vulcan and this place has the whole Star Trek theme going on! There was not much too look at - we spent the majority of our time in the visitor centre, where they were selling spock ears!

On the way back from Pincher Creek

As mentioned before Pincher Creek is one of the most windiest cities - hence the photos of the wind farms!

Dinner at our Pincher Creek Hotel

All we could hear was the lady next to us, talking about her South American liposuction. Classy.

Wateron National Park

On the way back from Cameron Lake, Shan decided to stop and go for a *quick* swim in the lake. Um. he was in there for a total of 5 seconds if you are lucky. Funny thing is - he went in again. And jumped out again.

His extremeties were frozen for the rest of the afternoon.
