St James Corner

After walking down 17th in -30 degrees and realising that Thai tai, don't do sit down service - we went to a irish pub which is about 2 blocks from our house (MUCH closer than Thai tai).

We froze our butts off and then we didn't even end up eating on 17th lol

Grey Cup Weekend

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_Cup
http://www.2009greycupfestival.com/

Grey Cup was hosted by Calgary this year between Sask Rough Riders and Montreal Allouetes. Although you would not know that there was another side playing besides the roughriders - as there was green all over Calgary over the weekend! The weekend started with a parade - led by Elisha Cuthbert (originally a Calgary girl and plays a Calgary Flames player).

Shan won tickets to see the game being played on the saddledome. So we went to watch and sadly there wasn't a big turnout. I guess when the stampeders are not in the cup - who wants to watch?!

The last five minutes of the game - was to me, one of the most interesting sports moments ever. A touchdown was played by Montreal in the last five minutes and they needed to kick a goal to win. They had the chance to win it - by having a kick at goal once the time had stopped or was close to stopping. the kicker missed. Sask had won the game. the crowd went wild.

and then tragedy.

too many players on the field for sask. 13 players on the field.

penalty for Montreal - a second chance at goal AND closer.

they kicked a goal and the game was won by Montreal to the dismay of the roughrider fans in the stadium.

Our christmas decorations are up!

It may not have been December - but we put up our tree and some decorations. Ok, so when I say we put up the tree - we literally pulled it out of the box, decorations, lights and all and put in on the window sill. Done. lol

Vietnamese

Mmm.... vietnamese noodles. One of Shannon's ( and Anne's) discoveries since living in Calgary. So simple - noodles, a bit of carot and lettuce, protein and spring rolls. Finished off with Nuoc Cham.

Yum.

Spruce Meadows - Christmas Fair

We picked up our Calgary 2009 christmas decoration from here (so cute). The fair had numerous crafty stalls all with a Christmas theme. There was also stalls set up for different countries and their local goods, which you can pick presents from. Australia was represented ! UGG Australia goods everywhere - although i have a sneaking suspicion that they are not an australian brand. This brand is everywhere in Calgary. EVERYWHERE!
