We went to the Stampede the first Saturday of the stampede. It amazing to see so many people dressed up in cowboy hats/boots. I think their gear comes out only once a year!

That night we ssaw the chuckwagon races (probably 8 in total) and the grandstand show. The grandstand show was a bit of cirque du soleil / comedian /video (as it came down with rain, and unfortunately they couldn't perform the ring of death so we watched a video (ha!) of the previous night's performance).

Stampede Parade

We were woken up at 7:30am to the noises of the parade - a lot of yahoooo ing. The parade started at 8:30am and went until 11:30am and happened to go straight past our apartment downtown. We got prime viewing spots! Apparently the parade had 4000 people in the parade and 400 prelude parade people (yes there was a prelude parade, 7:30 - 8:30am) .
