Discovering Calgary

We spent the first week in Calgary - doing a lot of walking!

Princes Island, downtown, 17th avenue, saddledome, Eau Claire, Kensington.... to name a few.

Pictured is Shannon by the Bow River. The night before, we had decided to go for a walk and we managed to come across a river (which we couldn't really see), along a fantastic well lit up walkway. There was so many people walking, running, cycling, rollerblading on the pathway. I thought I could learn to like this area - being so close to home. We even saw some bunnies (we think!)

This is what Shannon and I had been hoping for - a place at night time where we could walk around together. At rosewater - there isn't too many places to walk around at night time. But Calgary had delivered.

We were surprised that the river actually flows - quite quickly! A significant difference to the stagnant Torrens River at home. What we didn't know then - is that in Winter it freezes over....
